🐾 Nope, not at all! You don’t need a pet to join PawSquad Press or make a difference for animals. Your superpowers are your voice, your creativity and your compassion. 🦸

Whether you share your life with an animal or not, there are plenty of stories to discover, create and share. 📰

🌱 Can reporters use photography, video, writing or art — no matter their age?

🌱 Absolutely! Creativity has no age limit, and PawSquad Reporters ages 6-17 can tell their stories in the way that feels right for them. They can use photography, video, writing, drawing, interviews and more.

There’s no one “right” way to be a PawSquad Reporter. 🐾

Every Reporter’s parent or guardian signs one consent form, which covers photos, video and other submissions. 📝



🌱 Can a Reporter submit more than one entry each month?

Absolutely! Every monthly topic is packed with creative possibilities, and Reporters can create and submit as many entries as inspiration strikes!

For example, if the topic is Pet Care 101, they might:

🐶 Feature an animal they know
👩‍⚕️ Interview a veterinarian
📷 Photograph a vet helping an animal
✂️ Spotlight a grooming business
🛍️ Review a favorite pet product

They can write, draw, photograph, film, interview and create as much as they’d like.  For interviews and visits, a parent or guardian helps. 👨‍👩‍👧

🌱 What’s the deadline to submit content each month?

🌱 Submissions for each monthly topic are due by [SUNDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF THE MONTH]. That gives our team time to review entries and showcase our Reporters’ creations the following week. 📅

✨ BONUS: We spotlight new content throughout the month, so each Reporter’s creativity can inspire other animal lovers, too!

🌱 We do our best to spotlight every PawSquad Reporter who participates! 🐾

Some topics receive more submissions than others, so we can’t guarantee that every creation will be featured. But every submission matters, every effort counts, and every Reporter’s creativity is worth celebrating.

Work is only shared with the signed consent of a parent or guardian. 📝

We love giving PawSquad Reporters opportunities to share their voices and inspire others! ✨

🌱 Can my Reporter contact local businesses, shelters or rescues?

🌱 Yes, with parent or guardian permission! 🐾 Local stories, interviews and community connections are a great part of being a PawSquad Reporter.

Families arrange and supervise all contact with local businesses, shelters and rescues. The Pawtectors does not arrange these contacts.

Reporters should always get parent or guardian approval before contacting anyone. An adult should be with them for any in-person visit, and a parent or guardian should help with any calls, emails or messages. 👨‍👩‍👧

Great reporting starts with staying safe! 🛡️

🌱 Can teens use PawSquad Press for community service, resumes or college applications?

🌱 Absolutely! PawSquad Press gives Senior Reporters (ages 13-17) opportunities to build real-world experience in storytelling, communication, creativity and community engagement.

Teens can list their PawSquad projects, interviews, photography, videos and other work on resumes, portfolios and college applications. 🎓

PawSquad activities may also qualify for community service hours, depending on the requirements of their school or organization. We recommend checking with them first. If you need a letter confirming participation, just ask. ✅



🌱 Where do we send submissions, and what happens to the work we submit?

Send all entries to [email protected]. 🐾

Your Reporter remains the creator of their work. A signed parental consent form is on file for every Reporter, and it explains how their work may be shared. With that permission, The Pawtectors may feature and celebrate their creation through PawSquad Press and, as the consent form describes, our program and promotional channels. 📝

Reporters are credited by first name and age only. 🏷️

If you’d like a creation removed, email [email protected] and we’ll take it down.
