Nope, not at all! You don’t need a pet to be a PawSquad Reporter or make a difference for animals. Your superpowers are your voice, your creativity and your compassion.

Whether you share your life with an animal or not, there are plenty of stories to discover, create and share.

🌱 Can reporters use photography, video, writing or art — no matter their age?

Absolutely! Creativity has no age limit. PawSquad Reporters can tell their stories in the way that feels right for them — through photography, video, writing, drawing, interviews and more.

There’s no one “right” way to be a PawSquad Reporter. 🐾



🌱 Can a Reporter submit more than one entry each month?

Absolutely! Every monthly topic is packed with creative possibilities, and Reporters can create and submit as many entries as inspiration strikes!

For example, if the topic is Pet Care 101, they might:

🐶 Feature an animal they know
👩‍⚕️ Interview a veterinarian
📷 Photograph a vet helping an animal
✂️ Spotlight a grooming business
🛍️ Review a favorite pet product

They can write, draw, photograph, film, interview and create as much as they’d like.

🌱 What’s the deadline to submit content each month?

We keep it flexible to fit your family’s schedule!

Submissions for each monthly topic are due by SUNDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF THE MONTH. That gives us time to review entries and showcase our Reporters’ creations the following week.

✨ BONUS: We spotlight new content throughout the month, so their creativity could inspire other animal lovers, too!

🌱 Will every Reporter’s work be showcased?

We do our best to spotlight every PawSquad Reporter who participates! 🐾

Some topics may receive more submissions than others, so we can’t guarantee that every creation will be featured. But every submission matters, every effort counts, and every Reporter’s creativity is worth celebrating.

We love giving PawSquad Reporters opportunities to share their voices and inspire others!

🌱 Can my Reporter contact local businesses, shelters or rescues?

Yes — with parent or guardian permission! 🐾 Local stories, interviews and community connections are a great part of being a PawSquad Reporter.

Reporters should always get parent or guardian approval before contacting anyone, and an adult should accompany them for any in-person visits.

Great reporting starts with staying safe!

🌱 Can teens use PawSquad Press for community service, resumes or college applications?

Absolutely! PawSquad Press gives Senior Reporters opportunities to build real-world experience in storytelling, communication, creativity and community engagement.

Teens can showcase their PawSquad projects, interviews, photography, videos and other published work on resumes, portfolios and college applications.

PawSquad activities may also qualify for community service hours, depending on the requirements of their school or organization. We recommend checking with them first.
